About LinkedIn (adapted from LinkedIn prospectus):
LinkedIn is the world's largest professional network on the Internet with more than 90 million members in over 200 countries and territories. Through LinkedIn's proprietary platform, members are able to create, manage and share their professional identity online, build and engage with their professional network, access shared knowledge and insights, and find business opportunities, enabling them to be more productive and successful.
LinkedIn's platform provides members with solutions, including applications and tools, to search, connect and communicate with business contacts, learn about career opportunities, join industry groups, research organizations and share information. At the core of their platform are their members, who create profiles that serve as their professional profiles and are accessible by any other member, as well as (unless a member chooses otherwise) anyone with an Internet connection.
LinkedIn provides enterprises and professional organizations of all sizes with the opportunity to identify specific talent within their global network, enable their employees to be more productive and successful, build brand awareness, and market their products and services. Enterprises and professional organizations that use LinkedIn's solutions include large corporations, small and medium-sized businesses, educational institutions, government agencies, non-profit organizations and other similar entities. LinkedIn's current products for enterprises and professional organizations include hiring solutions, marketing solutions and premium subscriptions. LinkedIn's marketing solutions enable enterprises to reach a large audience of influential and affluent professionals and connect them to relevant products and services.
LinkedIn generates revenue from enterprises and professional organizations by selling their hiring solutions and marketing solutions offline through their field sales organization or online on their website. LinkedIn also generates revenue from members, acting as individuals or on behalf of their enterprise or professional organization, who subscribe to LinkedIn's premium services.
