Fusion-IO has pioneered a next generation storage memory platform for data decentralization. Their platform significantly improves the processing capabilities within a datacenter by relocating process-critical, or "active', data from centralized storage to the server where it is being processed, a methodology referred to as data decentralization. Fusion-IO's integrated hardware and software solutions leverages non-volatile memory to significantly increase datacenter efficiency and offers enterprise grade performance, reliability, availability and manageability. They sell their solutions through a global direct sales force, original equipment manufacturers, including Dell, HP and IBM, and other channel partners. Since inception, Fusion-IO has shipped solutions aggregating over 20 petabytes of enterprise class storage memory capacity to more than 1,000 end-users.

Fusion-IO's platform enables enterprises to increase the utilization, performance and efficiency of their datacenter resources and extract greater value from their information assets. They claim that, "Many users of our platform have reported achieving greater than 10 times the application throughput per server through increased server utilization, resulting in reductions to ongoing facility, energy and cooling expenses."
